>> this is the segment most suspectable that this could be a referendum on president obama . white working class votervise trended away from obama more than anybody else especially working class men who were leery of the bush administration . they voted for the change. they didn't see the change they wanted to see. they have been some of the hardest hit folks by the economy. they're not coming back to anybody right now. these are the people who are angry at politics and washington, d.c. perhaps more than anybody else.

>> it was on the cover of new yorker magazine. i mean, tha romney campaign is never happy when this subject comes up in interviews. this was his first big network interview talking about the dog t. is an old story told to show how romney demonstrated that he was efficient in his family life and it's turned out was used heavily by the republicans in the 2008 campaign.

>> like the john edwards hair cut that the voter just kind of remembers it. i'm not sure what kind of impact it will have in november but gets people on cable news talking and gets romney forcing to answer this because there are millions of dog owners who probably would not do this.
