A Halloween spending spree

CNBC's Mandy Drury reports spending on candy, costumes and parties is expected to reach a record $8 billion.

>> $8 billion apparently going to be spent this year. that's up 16% from last year. a record 170 million people plan to celebrate halloween apparently. that's seven in ten americans that are going to get into the mood. each person, chris will, spend on average $79.82 on decoration, costumes, and candy, that's up from $72.31 last year. i guess what people are spending on their pet costumes, by pet, i mean dogs, of course, a record $370 million. that is up nearly 30% from last year. i believe that pet costumes, chris, are the industry's fastest growing costumes.
